The Surgery has now acquired a new mobile phone for urgent out of hours contact. This uses the same network as the emergency services, and means there is much less chance that you will not be able to make contact in an emergency due to the Doctor having signal problems. The new number is 07753 040 699. Please update your phone directories and pass the new number on to your families and friends, or drop into the Surgery where you can pick up a card displaying the new number to keep in your wallet or purse.

This year's supply of flu vaccines is expected at the Surgery by the end of September. Eligible groups for vaccination include over 65's, those with a long term health condition such as diabetes, and pregnant women. If in any doubt as to your eligibility, please enquire at the Surgery. Pre-school children aged 2-5 are eligible for the nasal flu vaccine, administered at the Surgery. Primary school children will be vaccinated by the School Nurse.

- Warm water hydrotherapy sessions are once again available in Bowmore. Sessions are held each Wednesday between 11 - 11.45am and 11.45am and 12.30pm. Hydrotherapy is suitable for those with long term conditions such as MS, arthritis or other mobility limiting conditions.

- Leaflets about the sessions are available at the Surgery. Accessing the sessions requires a referral signed by a GP, so please enquire if interested.

- Islay and Jura have been successful again and have attracted another Rural Fellowship GP for 2016-17 - Dr Jessica Cooper. Arrangements for this year's placement will be slightly different from last year. Rather than Dr Cooper spending frequent periods of time here on her own, she will spend more time on Islay and one of the Islay GP's will spend time on Jura, as they already know the local systems and procedures. This arrangement will maximise patient safety, whilst also encouraging a closer sense of team working between our two islands.
